The local committé for literature work. Description of the project:

The project aims at making the work amongst blind and visually handicapped more efficient in the whole of Tanzania. Our collaboration partner has had activities in over 20 years in this area. The aim is to computerize the work and hereby make the work with the writing for the blind (braille) more efficient, to organise courses for the visually handicapped and that the staff will receive further education. Literature, correspondence courses and a magazine is published in braille and swahili and the visually handicapped gather for meetings in order to strengthen their self esteem, create networks and help them find ways of livelihood. The project reduces the poverty amongst the visually handicapped, gives them self esteem to face the challenges in the community and helps them to brake the isolation.
GOAL: to simplify and make the production of litterature in braille more effective, develop the connections between the visually handicapped in the whole of Tanzania.
MEASURE: provide suitable equipment in order to computerize the production of litterature in braille and swahili, educate local staff for the activities, create networks for the visually handicapped in the whole of Tanzania through conferences.
RESULTS: the production of litterature for the visually handicapped is secured.
